So Much for Compassion

Posted by degunter on 11/16/2009

This past weekend, our four month old puppy became very ill with what appears to have been parvo. We called this clinic on Sunday because they advertise after-hours/weekend emergency services. When we explained that we didn't have the minimal amount of money to hand them (but had at least half of it and would pay the bill in full within the next five days) we were advised that we needed to just give the dog Pedialyte and try to find another vet clinic on Monday morning. At 3 a.m. Monday morning, our precious little family member who'd brought us so much joy passed away, leaving my wife and daughter (and me) totally heartbroken. Obviously, being in the business of caring for families' pets has become more "business" than "caring" at some clinics. Would our adorable little buddy have made it if they'd worked with us, taken him in, and taken care of him? I guess we will never know. But there is one thing we do know: the one chance (and only) chance the folks at this practice had to make an impression with us and possibly save our dog's life was not as important to them as being handed money up-front. This is something we will definitely be telling everyone we know about who has pets and asks us about what veterinarian(s) we like.

Would Not Use!

My dog which is part of our family got sick on a Sunday afternoon. A call was made to see if I could bring my family member in to be seen by this animal clinic, I explained that I didn't have maybe forty dollars to bring, but my pay check would be in on Friday that I really needed my dog looked at he was in bad pain. Where was the compassion? I was told unless I had the money they need upfront that I should contact another vet the following day! Sorry, that they could not be of service to me. Again, where is the compassion for the love of animals? If I were a doctor/veterinarian I could not have turned down someone who was trying their best to get their loved one checked out. So, just my opinion..I personally would not recommend this clinic to anyone who raises their animals as part of their own family member. Sandra Dee
